2018 Ruth B. Rogers Memorial Scholarship
The Alpha Mu Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa is seeking applicants for its Ruth B. Rogers
Memorial Scholarship for graduating seniors. Alpha Delta Kappa is an honorary sorority for
women educators. Each year we give assistance to one or two high school seniors who have
plans for post-secondary education and who are in need of financial aid. Preference will be
given to applicants interested in pursuing a career in education. Depending on the applications
received, one or two students from the Durham area will be chosen to receive up to a $1000
scholarship.
The guidelines for the scholarship state this student must be a legal resident. The criteria
include an ability to work with others, leadership, character, academic aptitude and financial
need. Again, preference will be given to applicants interested in pursuing a career in education.
A committee from the chapter will make the selection that will be announced at the beginning
of May. The decision should be made in time for the money to be awarded at spring awards
programs.

The top THREE applications from VAHS will be submitted to the chapter for consideration and postmarked by April 13, 2018.
