Free STEM Summer Program for HS Juniors

 

Students finishing their junior year can apply to the Team Tech Challenge, a free virtual summer STEM program brought to you by Deloitte. 

In this free, four-day challenge, students compete with teammates in a tech innovation challenge and prepare for the next step ahead: college.

Whether your student is just beginning their college planning journey or they know where they'll be attending school in the fall, Real Talk is the place to get pertinent questions answered.


Attendees will have an opportunity to connect with some of the best financial aid officers in the country and get their questions answered in real time!

College Decision Day is almost here! Are you Ready?

 Making the right college decision can be intimidating and with the recent uncertainty and changes, this year may be more challenging than most. As Decision Day approaches, here are two resources to share with your students to help them make their final college decision easier.

New Scholarship Opportunity & Student Ambassador Program from Cirkled In

 The team at Cirkled In is excited to share a scholarship opportunity.  

It is an easy application process; students simply create a free Cirkled In profile and then click on the apply button at the top of the page. More details can be found here: Cirkled In Scholarship Page.

They are also excited to announce their new Student Ambassador program. This program helps kids build the skills they need to reach their highest potential! 

UNC Charlotte's Spring Virtual Open House

 This is the time when Juniors start to think about their own application journey as they see their friends get accepted to colleges and celebrate their success.


UNC Charlotte is hosting a Spring Virtual Open House this coming Saturday, April 17th, from 10 am - 12 pm, and will be a great resource for Juniors as they are designing this event just for them! This event is also open to Sophomores, and Freshmen in high school.

Duke Health and the Durham YouthWorks Summer Internship Program

 Duke Health will once again offer paid internships in the healthcare or healthcare supportive careers.

 

The internship will run from June 7 through June 30 and registration is open now!

 

Students can apply to be considered for internships through the website below.

If they are interested in the Duke Health internship please tell them to choose Health Sciences.

 

They can also apply for internship in other categories too.

UNC - Allied Health Professionals Outreach Events

 The UNC  Allied Health Ambassador organization is hosting Local High School Outreach events to provide high school students with information about various allied health science professions and programs at UNC Chapel Hill. Health professions include: 

  • Physical Therapy

  • Speech-Language Pathology

  • Occupational Therapy

  • Audiology

  • Clinical Rehab and Mental Health Counseling

  • Physician Assistant

  • Radiologic Science

  • Clinical Laboratory Science

Informational sessions with Q&A opportunities are held  via Zoom. The next event is Monday, April 5 from 6:30-7:30pm. This event is open to any student who is interested in learning more about the allied health professions. 

There will be  a short presentation to introduce the various professions/programs and wrap-up with a Q&A session for students to ask whatever questions they may have about allied health, what they can do now to get on track for these (mostly graduate) programs, college in general, etc.
