The first program of its kind in North Carolina, the new anesthesia technology program at Durham Tech offers prospective students a point of education and entry into a field projected to grow by 14 percent nationally in the near future.
An anesthesia technologist works to provide safe care at the direction of a provider in the care of patients undergoing anesthesia. Students at Durham Tech work through a curriculum featuring hands-on experience — including program clinicals at premier Triangle medical facilities — to become proficient in proper preparation, acquisition and application of the equipment required for delivery of anesthesia care. Graduates will be eligible for national certification through the Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians (ASATT) National Certification Examination.
