VA Tech Army ROTC

Army ROTC (Reserve Officers' Training Corps) is one of the best leadership courses in the country and is part of your college curriculum.   VA Tech is one of six Senior Military Colleges (SMC) in the country.  SMCs are some of the most prestigious educational institutions in the country and offer several advantages over ROTC units in other colleges and universities.

The Reserve Officer Training Corps is a college elective that develops Leadership Skills in our students as they prepare for Military Service. Army ROTC offers a commission as a second lieutenant in either the active Army or Reserve Forces in a variety of career fields including Combat Arms (Aviation, Armor, Artillery, Infantry, or Engineers), Combat Support, and Combat Service Support branches.  All of our Cadets will go active duty, unless they choose to serve in the Reserve component. Which is a contrast to other ROTC programs, where those Cadets have to compete for active duty positions.

Army ROTC offers a 4-year and 3-year scholarship for college bound high school students. You can apply for the Army ROTC Scholarship at http://www.goarmy.com/rotc/high-school-students/four-year-scholarship.html once you have your ACT or SAT scores.

Watch the Official ROTC YouTube video on how to fill out the 4 Year High School Scholarship Application: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iV_kgAj98HE

There is no obligation for applying and it does not cost anything.  The worst thing that can happen when you apply is that you do not earn a scholarship through the national process.  However, if you do earn a scholarship, it can be used towards EITHER full tuition and fees OR room and board.  Additionally, you will receive $1200 per year book allowance AND a monthly stipend of $420.  We often have many on campus scholarships available as well once you are on campus.
