CCP Information Sessions planned September-October

Career and College Promise (CCP) provides seamless dual enrollment educational opportunities for eligible North Carolina high school students in order to accelerate completion of college certificates, diplomas, and associate degrees that lead to college transfer or provide entry-level job skills. Juniors and Seniors with a g.p.a. of 2.8 and above can register to attend an Information Session if they would like to take CCP classes at Durham Tech. next semester.  Dates and times are listed below. Please note that there is a  Spanish session being offered in October. Check the  CCP Website or use the link below to register. The first session is 9/15 at 6:30.

Hello from Guilford College,

I’m writing to let you know about Guilford’s upcoming Open House at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2022.

We’d love to meet your students, so I hope you’ll share this information with your senior class.

While here, they'll take a tour of campus and learn more about academics and team advising. They'll also have the opportunity to get to know their Admission Counselor during a farm-fresh meal in the Dining Hall and enjoy a dessert food truck after dinner. Plus, those interested will receive free tickets to the first home game of the Guilford football season!

In addition, we're offering on-site admission to students ready to apply for fall 2023. Those interested should bring a copy of their high-school transcript; unofficial versions are acceptable.

Queens University Admission Rep. Visit 10/4 12:00

 A representative form Queens University will be on campus during lunch on October 4th.

Easing Back to School and Work Anxiety

As the end of summer officially approaches and we start to fall back into our autumn routines, the return to school – whether elementary, secondary or college - can be an exciting but also anxious time. This can be true for the child/teen, but even a parent, caregiver or educator might be feeling worried or stressed about the upcoming school year. At ADAA, we recognize the effect going back to school can have on all of us, and we want to make sure this issue of Triumph touches on some important concerns. If you’re feeling unsettled about back-to-school this year, you are not alone. Mental health professionals say there are ample reasons — from academic and personal loss from COVID and violence and school shootings to developmental delays and emotional struggles — for someone to be concerned or anxious. But knowledge, resources and preparation can help alleviate some of those pre-school (and preschool) jitters and get us in a mindset to enjoy, look forward to and not stress - so much - about academic year 2022-2023. Whether you’re the one going back, know someone going back, or are sending your child(ren) back to school, we hope you find useful and relevant information in this issue.

THE HEISMAN HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP 2023

 The Heisman High School Scholarship continues a 28-year tradition of honoring high school seniors who accomplish tremendous feats in the classroom, on the field, and most importantly, within their communities. The scholarship recognizes and rewards both male and female high school athletes who are community-minded and driven to use their exceptional talents for the benefit of all.

Eligibility begins with maintaining a weighted GPA of 3.0 (B average) or better. Applicants also need to be proven leaders and role models within their school and community. And applicants must participate or have participated in grades 9, 10, or 11 in at least one of the sports recognized by the International Olympic Committee in the Summer and Winter Olympic Games, the Paralympic Games or the National Federation of State High School Associations.
