The Duke Ophthalmic Technician Program is a 1-year program that prepares individuals for an in-demand career with excellent pay and employment rates. Learn more at a virtual information session. February 16, 2022 5:30 p.m. Register We are currently recruiting high school students and adults interested in a career change or veterans entering civilian life. Highlights of the Program: No college degree or prerequisites required Students may begin the program after earning a high school diploma Earn a certificate in one year with eligibility to take the certification exam   Nine months of hands on experience in clinical rotations at Duke Eye Center clinics 90% employment rate after program completion   Tuition is affordable compared to other allied health programs and financial aid is available   Highlights of the Career: Starting pay $22-$24/hr  Provide direct patient care with highly specialized eye doctors (ophthalmologists)   Perform vision exams, diagnostic testing, measure and record visual stats, to help ophthalmologist correct diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases  Assist in surgery Instruct patients about medications, tests and procedures  Support clinical research by collecting information for research studies   An in-demand career due to a nationwide shortage of OpTechs  Many possibilities for career advancement in clinic management positions and other roles in eye care  Visit our Website We Want to Spread the Word at Your Career Fair!
