The Colleges That Change Lives Scholarship was established in 2016 to honor the 20th anniversary of the publication of the first edition of Loren Pope’s classic book and the 10thanniversary of the non-profit organization, Colleges That Change Lives.
Since first appearing in 1996, four versions of Colleges That Change Lives have been published, each update offering valuable insights about the college search, as well as profiles of 40 small, residential, liberal arts schools that deliver a quality education to thousands of students each year. The non-profit College That Change Lives organization is dedicated to preserving and promoting the book’s message, and this scholarship is yet another way to ensure that the CTCL experience becomes a reality for even more students.
The 2019 Colleges That Change Lives Scholarships ($1,000 per year, renewable for up to four years with a maximum award of $4,000 per student) will be awarded to new first-year students, including international students and undocumented students who choose to attend a CTCL-member college or university.
The CTCL Board reviews the applications and selects the recipients. Decisions will be based on the merits of the application, and financial need may be taken into consideration. All students will be notified about the scholarship results. Learn more about the most recent CTCL Scholarship winners.
To complete the application, two items must be emailed with your name in the subject line to email@example.com before 11:59 PM, Eastern Time, April 5, 2019: — at least one copy of an admission letter from a CTCL-member school — a copy of page one of your Student Aid Report from the FAFSA (see this example of page 1 of the SAR)
If you cannot file a FAFSA and/or provide a copy of your Student Aid Report, please select “I will not be able to submit a Student Aid Report, but would like to compete for this scholarship” when prompted on the application. If you are a finalist who did not provide the SAR, CTCL will contact you directly for more information.
Awardees will be notified by email on April 19, 2019.
