Service Academy Day

Congressman G.K. Butterfield is hosting a Service Academy Day on Saturday, October 21st beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Frank L. Eagles Business Community Center on the campus of Wilson Community College )902 Herring Ave E,. Wilson NC 27893).

Service Academy Day will provide students an opportunity to learn more about each academy as well as the  office's nomination process. Students will be able to meet representatives and cadets from the service academies as well as ROTC programs from local colleges and universities.

UNC Fall 2018 Application is Open

The Fall 2018 application is open on Common App. Here are a few updates for this year. Excel@Carolina: As part of the first-year application, students can indicate their interest in up to three opportunities offered through Excel@Carolina or they may respond that none of the opportunities interest them. Only students who express an interest will be further considered for Excel@Carolina.  Letter of Recommendation for Transfers: Transfer applicants will now be required to submit one letter of recommendation that describes their academic potential and personal qualities. Claiming NC Residency: Applicants who believe they qualify for North Carolina residency will now need to submit a residency application with the North Carolina Residency Determination Services (RDS), which is a government agency that serves the entire state. Once they submit their residency application, students will receive a Residency Certification Number (RCN), which we will use to verify their residency status for evaluation and tuition purposes. Application Deadlines:•   First-Year Early Action deadline: October 15 •   First-Year Regular Decision deadline: January 15 •   Transfer deadline: February 15 Only the application and application fee or application fee waiver request must be submitted by the deadline. Transcripts, secondary school statements, and letters of recommendation may arrive after the deadline. Academic Days at ECU

Are you a student who is interested in the health sciences or engineering and technology? We encourage you to attend ECU  Academic Days this fall!

The College of Nursing Academic Days are geared towards seniors and include a general Undergraduate Admissions information session and campus tour, followed by a College of Nursing information session and tour. Dates available are Friday, October 20 and Friday, November 10. We are also hosting a College of Nursing Junior Day, geared specifically to high school juniors, on Monday, October 9.

The College of Engineering and Technology Academic Days are great for students interested in engineering, technology systems, computer science, or construction management. The day includes a general Undergraduate Admissions information session and campus tour, followed by a College of Engineering and Technology information session and lab tour. Dates available are Friday, October 20 and Friday, November 17.

Meredith College Information

There are a lot of misperceptions about what it’s like to attend a single-gender institution such as Meredith College. Many college-bound women will rule out the possibility of attending a women’s college from the outset and miss out on the proven opportunity to grow and develop as strong leaders and intellectuals.

PSAT

The PSAT will be offered to all interested 11th graders on Wednesday, October 25th beginning at 8:00am in the High School Commons. Any interested students should sign up using the link below.  There is a $15 fee that can be paid at orgs.online.

Beginning May 1, 2017, the state requires students to submit evidence of residency status when completing a college application. Students should use the Residency Determination Service (RDS) to complete a determination.

What does it mean for current students? Current students who are in-state residents for tuition purposes, do not need to complete RDS if they have been continuously enrolled (enrolled both fall and spring semesters) at Durham Tech.

New students and current students that wish to change their residency status are required to complete RDS and should read the information below.

Duke University Open House September 23

Duke will offer two specialized on-campus Open House programs on Saturday, September 23 from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.

Arts & Humanities Open House

• Open to Juniors and Seniors and their families
• Designed for students interested in the arts and humanities (classics, languages and literatures, history, philosophy, religious studies, visual art and theory, documentary studies, dance, music, theater, film and video)
• The schedule includes sample classes, campus tours, an introduction to student research, arts and humanities-related co-curricular activities, and career options for arts and humanities majors, as well as admissions & financial aid information.

Pratt School of Engineering Open House

• Open to Seniors and their families

Both programs provide a continental breakfast and lunch for students and their families.

If your students are unable to attend an Open House on September 23, or if they are interested in other fields of study including social sciences and natural sciences, they may visit campus at another time by attending an information session and student-led campus tour. If they can’t visit Duke, we encourage them to check out our campus via our new virtual tour feature. We will also be hosting Discover Duke information sessions and traveling with our partners from Georgetown, Harvard, Stanford, and the University of Pennsylvania on Exploring College Options in a city near you this fall.
