There are a lot of misperceptions about what it’s like to attend a single-gender institution such as Meredith College. Many college-bound women will rule out the possibility of attending a women’s college from the outset and miss out on the proven opportunity to grow and develop as strong leaders and intellectuals.
That’s not an overstatement. It’s a fact that the majority of women holding leadership positions worldwide are graduates of women’s colleges. Meredith College is no exception. Many of our alumnae are out in the world, cracking the glass ceiling. And that’s possible thanks to the unique learning environment we offer.
At Meredith, women are encouraged to pursue their strengths and develop traits that are typically associated with success and leadership. They interact more frequently with faculty, participate more actively in class, and attain greater gains in self-understanding – including learning effectively on their own and working collaboratively with others – than their counterparts at coed institutions.
It’s an approach that works – and that our alumnae value. In a recent survey, 99% of our alumnae said they saw important benefits in attending a women’s college, and 98% said they were satisfied with their academic experience. In addition, 97% of recent alumnae said they were professionally well-prepared as a result of their Meredith experience.
