Interested in a U.S. Service Academy?



Congressman G. K. Butterfield is hosting a Service Academy Day on Saturday, October 21st at 10:00AM at  Frank L. Eagles Business Community Center at Wilson Community College (902 HERRING AVE E, WILSON, NC 27893).

Representatives from each of the academies (US Military Academy, US Naval Academy, Air Force Academy, US Coast Guard Academy and the Merchant Marine Academy) will provide detailed information on each academy’s programs and admissions process. Representatives from ROTC programs at Duke, NCCU, and ECU have also been invited to attend. 

The First Congressional District's JROTC cadets are invited to participate in our first ever Drill Showcase. The showcase will consist of an Armed Exhibition Drill Routine and an Unarmed Regulation Drill Knockout CompetitionPlease let me know if your schools JROTC program would like to participate. 

Our service academies offer an excellent four year education as well as an opportunity to serve our country. Each academy provides a bachelor’s degree and graduates automatically enter their chosen branch of the military as an officer.   In exchange for signing up for five years of active duty, while attending the academy, students receive:

1.       FREE tuition
2.       FREE room and board
3.       FREE books
4.       FREE Medical and Dental Insurance

These benefits represent nearly $400,000 in value.
