West Point - Summer Leaders Experience

 

What is SLE?

• SLE is a one-week program for current Juniors (High School Class of 2025) to visit West Point in June.
• Students in this program get to spend the week with our cadets, live in the barracks, and eat in the mess hall.
• Learn about West Point’s world class academics by trying 4 of our 17 academic workshops.
• Learn about military training and becoming a Leader of Character at West Point by completing two military days to include rappelling, Zodiac boats, combatives (like Jiu-Jitsu) training and more!
• Challenge themselves physically by attempting the Candidate Fitness Assessment, conducting physical training, and sports.
• Complete their admissions interview with a cadet.
• Spend the week making friends with other students from all over the US who are applying to West Point.

Students may sign up for this program directly at westpoint.edu. Applications will be accepted until April 15^th. SLE is competitive and not all who apply are offered to attend.

Triangle Nonprofit and Volunteer Leadership Center

The TNVLC is pleased to offer 6 weeks of safe and in-person student summer programming. IMPACT Camp, Model UN, and the Civic Engagement Leadership Institute (CELI). Each aim to help local Triangle Students develop their leadership and public service skillset. More information about these programs can be found on the website.

West Point develops Leaders of Character, and are looking for high-achieving young people who are in great standing with their school and community, and who want to challenge themselves.

Interested students may sign up for this program now by using the the link westpoint.edu. The priority application deadline for SLE is the following Friday on March 15^th . Applications will be accepted until April 15^th. SLE is competitive and not all who apply are offered to attend.

“I Matter” Scholarship

• Eligibility: Any low-income and/or BIPOC high school student may apply for this scholarship opportunity.
• Amount: $2,160
• Winners: 2 winners, $1,080 each

• Eligibility: Any Black high school senior with a general interest in business and a GPA of 3.0 or higher may apply for this scholarship.

Grand Oaks Enterprises LLC Scholarship

• Eligibility: Any high school senior or undergraduate student attending or planning to attend an HBCU with at least a 2.8 GPA may apply for this scholarship.
• Amount: $1,100
• Winners: 2 winners, $550 each

Concrete Rose Scholarship Award

• Eligibility: First-generation BIPOC women who are high school seniors or undergraduates with at least a 2.0 GPA may apply.
• Amount: $2,300

Alexis Mackenzie Memorial Scholarship for the Arts

• Eligibility:Any Black or Latina female high school student who has been accepted to a two or four-year college or an arts institute may apply for this scholarship if they’re pursuing the arts and are in need of financial assistance. 
• Amount: $9,350
