Johns Hopkins Virtual Summer Open House

 

One Day to Learn It All

Voyager Academy HS students are invited to join the Virtual Summer Open House on Saturday, July 13, 2024! In just one day, they will be able to learn everything they need to know about Hopkins and how to apply. Students can personalize this Virtual Summer Open House to their unique interests by choosing which sessions they’d like to attend. The Next NC Scholarship combines the federal Pell Grant with the state-funded financial aid program to form a simplified and predictable scholarship award that’s easier to understand and makes education more affordable for most North Carolinians. It’s an opportunity to pursue the degree you need for the career you want – and the future you choose.

How much money are we talking about?

Thousands! Enough to potentially earn a tuition-free degree.

Students attending a community college will receive at least $3,000. That’s more than the cost of full-time tuition, which means qualifying North Carolinians can choose from any of the 58 community colleges across the state and have all of their tuition and fees 100% covered.

Those attending a public university in North Carolina will get a minimum of $5,000. That pays for more than half, if not all, of tuition and fees at any of the 16 public universities in the state.

Students with the greatest need for financial aid could qualify for even more funding to help make paying for college more manageable.

Elizabeth City State University has a great new opportunity for any students interested in becoming a pilot, air traffic controller, or unmanned aircraft systems (drone) operator. Rising seniors and juniors can take up to 6 credits of college coursework paid for by a grant from the Federal Aviation Administration.  The grant can also cover other costs of becoming a pilot or drone operator.

AI and Social Science Summer Program by Stanford Alumni

 Inspirit AI is a 25-hour project-based AI program taught by Stanford graduates that introduces middle and high school students to fundamental AI concepts to build interdisciplinary AI projects across disciplines. In 2024, the team is excited to announce new projects such as Generating Language Safely with ChatGPT. No CS experience is necessary to apply and priority applications are due soon!

Windows on Williams Summer Opportunity

The 2024 Windows on Williams (WOW) application is now available for rising seniors. The WOW fly-in program provides about 150 high-achieving seniors a fully funded opportunity to visit campus and experience the Williams community. WOW is a selective program open to rising seniors in the U.S. and Puerto Rico; preference is given to high-achieving students who couldn't otherwise afford to visit Williams.

WOW participants stay in dorms with current students, attend classes, meet with professors, and learn about our admission process and our extraordinary financial aid program. There are two ways to apply:

• Students may complete the full WOW application form, including a high school transcript (screenshots or pictures of the transcript are accepted) and an essay submitted for an English or social science class during the 2023-2024 academic school year
• Students who applied to the QuestBridge College Prep Scholars (CPS) program can re-use that application for WOW

West Point - Summer Leaders Experience

 

What is SLE?

• SLE is a one-week program for current Juniors (High School Class of 2025) to visit West Point in June.
• Students in this program get to spend the week with our cadets, live in the barracks, and eat in the mess hall.
• Learn about West Point’s world class academics by trying 4 of our 17 academic workshops.
• Learn about military training and becoming a Leader of Character at West Point by completing two military days to include rappelling, Zodiac boats, combatives (like Jiu-Jitsu) training and more!
• Challenge themselves physically by attempting the Candidate Fitness Assessment, conducting physical training, and sports.
• Complete their admissions interview with a cadet.
• Spend the week making friends with other students from all over the US who are applying to West Point.

Triangle Nonprofit and Volunteer Leadership Center

The TNVLC is pleased to offer 6 weeks of safe and in-person student summer programming. IMPACT Camp, Model UN, and the Civic Engagement Leadership Institute (CELI). 2024 FBI Charlotte Teen Academy

The FBI Charlotte 2024 Teen Academy will welcome high school students (sophomores, juniors and seniors) between the ages of 15-18 to a three-day program this summer beginning Wednesday, July 17^th to Friday, July 19^th from 9:00am -3:30pm each day.  All sessions will be held at the Charlotte FBI headquarters. 

 

Students will learn about SWAT Teams, evidence collection, and investigations, among other fun activities; and they will have the chance to interact with FBI Agents and professional staff every day. 

 

Students 16 an older must complete the “Record Check Consent Form”

 

The deadline to submit applications is April 18, 2024.

Meredith STEM College

 

Meredith STEM College is a unique opportunity for rising 10th, 11th, and 12th-grade women to explore and develop their science interests. Students selected for the program participate in six in-person weekend workshops and a two-week residential summer experience on Meredith’s campus.
